Eastwick is the City of Philadelphia's newest neighborhood scheduled for renewal.  Although this area was slated back in the 1970 for urban renewal, that plan was never realized, due many to the City's poor handling.  However today, there is great backing by many, and plans are already in the works to bring this once thriving neighborhood of the 1940's and 50's back to all it's allure and luster.

In the early 20th century, Eastwick was a collection of smaller rural communities known variously as Elmwood, The Meadows, the Lowlands, Tinicum, Little Holland and Clearview, names that still echo in parts of the neighborhood. The area is bound on one side by the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, Schuylkill River and has two creeks.
